Spark Equity is building a permanent-capital Australian industrial group alongside a small number of aligned, long-duration capital partners. The model combines operating ownership, disciplined acquisition and reinvestment. It does not rely on a forced exit to generate a return.
A fund with a fixed life has to sell. That shapes what it buys, what it pays and how it treats the people in the business.
A permanent structure does not have to sell, so it can buy businesses that reward patience, invest in them on a long horizon and let retained earnings compound.
Spark exists to own good industrial businesses for decades and to grow the group by putting the cash they generate to its best use.
Spark owns and operates Ultralift Australia and Westberg Sheetmetal from a single manufacturing site in Heidelberg West, Melbourne.
These businesses are the foundation and the proof: the operating capability, reporting and cadence Spark brings to a business have been built here first.
See the portfolioAustralia has thousands of privately owned industrial businesses built over 20 to 40 years by founders who are now approaching succession. Many are profitable, specialised and well run, and too small or too specific for large acquirers. Few have a natural permanent home. Spark's model is designed for exactly these businesses: buy them well, run them well, keep them, and do it again.
A long runway of specialist manufacturing, engineering, industrial products and services businesses.
Founders who want a permanent home for what they built, not a five-year flip.
Capital is available. Operators who can own and run industrial businesses well are not.
Allocate capital, buy well, report clearly and hold management to account.
We use debt conservatively so the group always has the headroom to act. We are selective on price and walk away from deals that require the business to be pushed harder than it should be.
We reinvest ahead of distributing, because compounding is the point.
Spark is founder led. Will Strange has built, scaled and sold a business, has bought and now runs two more, and has meaningful personal ownership in the group.
Capital partners are a small number of aligned, long-duration investors: family offices and private investment houses investing their own balance sheets alongside a founder who is doing the same.
